Removing premolars is usually NOT optimal.

Notes: Standard accepted practice and still taught in ortho residency is to remove premolars. There is a growing number of dentists, orthodontists and oral surgeons that will no longer remove premolars even if asked. This upper jaw was developed and there was room for all of the teeth.
